Rock music makes you run further

Fast paced rock and poular music is the best to exercise to, states a study from Brunel University

Dr Costas Karageorghis from the School of Sport and Education, asked 30 people to run on a treadmill while listening to a selection of music and keep in time with the beat.

Certain tracks increased endurance by 15 per cent and helped the participants enjoy running more even when they were close to physical exhaustion.

Music by Queen Abba and Glenn Frey were all good examples for moderate to intense exercise.

The study, due to be published in the Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology next year.
